hello, this is shmz!
Wish y'all doing great.
I’d like to share a detailed update on the current shipping status of my shop, along with some important information about product availability, shipping policies, future plans, and emm, the US tariff. I hope this gives you a better understanding of how things work behind.
Shipping Workflow Overview
I'm a Hong Kong based artist, and my shop Lemoon042 is for sharing goods provided by me and my friends.
Most of the products in my shop are produced in mainland Chinese factories.
After production, items are packaged either by myself or with the help of friends, then delivered to a logistics service integrator in mainland China. This kind of companies handles international shipping and final delivery to customers in various countries.
What Your Paid Shipping Fee Covers
The shipping fees paid at checkout are not arbitrary — they cover several necessary costs:
-
Product packaging
-
Local delivery (from my location or my friend's to the logistics provider)
-
International shipping and final delivery fees
-
Tariff
-
Miscellaneous expenses, including potential losses or surcharges
Actually the overseas delivery cost can vary significantly. Some regions, for example, in the United States, are classified as remote areas by major carriers such as UPS and FedEx. This classification can lead to extra fees or even delivery refusal: two packages going to different addresses within California may differ by $10 to $20 in actual shipping cost due to such classifications.
Of course, all of those explannations above only reflects the hidden costs involved in running the shop behind the scenes. I’m simply explaining what’s included under "miscellaneous expenses."
Why Lightweight Items Can Still Cost More to Ship
International shipping is typically charged based on dimensional weight instead of the actual weight. This means even if a product is physically light, the shipping cost may still be high if the item takes up space. In some cases, the shipping cost can exceed the value of the product itself.
I want to be completely transparent that I do not profit from shipping fees. In fact, I often cover part of the shipping cost myself to ensure the price stays within market expectations. As a small independent business, I sincerely appreciate the understanding and support of each customer.
After-Sales Support Policy
Please follow the steps below to request after-sales support:
-
Keep a clear unboxing video showing that the issue existed before the package was opened.
-
Provide a written description of the issue.
-
Contact me directly via the shop’s contact page or by email. My contact email is also listed on my Twitter and Bluesky accounts (It's the same email address).
-
Act within 7 days of delivery. I can verify whether the package has been signed for. If more than seven days have passed since delivery, I will not be able to provide after-sales support.
Thank you for understanding. I appreciate customers who reach out promptly and clearly — it allows me to resolve issues more efficiently and fairly.
Important Note for U.S. Customers
Shipping to most available regions will continue as normal.
However, due to upcoming changes in U.S. tariff policies, the current duty-free exemption for small parcels may soon be revoked. If this policy goes into effect, parcels shipped to the United States may face:
-
High and unpredictable tariffs(which is going to a crazy floorprice of 25 USD each, wth??)
-
Delivery delays or rejections(I don't believe their thousands of employees could handle those daily millions of packages)
-
Significantly increased logistics costs(I don't know how those shipping companies could survive on this situation...)
At this point, my logistics provider has not issued updated pricing for U.S. yet, so I am unable to provide any new estimates. This situation is frustrating, especially since around two-thirds of my customers are based in the United States. I truly don’t want to lose the chance to share the things I love with you.
If these changes are officially implemented and my logistics provider cannot offer a workable solution, I may have to temporarily suspend shipping to the U.S and close the orders... But for now!!! Shipping continues as usual — no news is good news.
I will notify you separately if that becomes necessary.
Thank you once again for your continued support and patience. Running a small business has never been easy, but every bit of encouragement from you means a great deal to me. I’ll not stop doing my best to bring goods with love to you.
With gratitude,
shmz
